For a more authentic Ramadan experience, you can always go to one o the Ramadan bazaars in Kota Kinabalu. There are plenty of bazaars, and many of them will have a wide assortment of yummy (and cheap!) treats. Self-control is vital here, lest you want to end up with plenty of food to take home for your sungkai.
Some of the locals' favourite bazaar spots are in Asia City, Lintasan Deasoka (near Gaya Street), and Sembulan.
