The Team of 1StopBorneo is incredible! Their knowledge of the rainforest and the wildlife was the best we found during our whole trip through Borneo. They‘re the real experts. They’re publishing own books about wildlife in Tawau. Their enthusiasm for science and environmental protection is inspirational. Besides this they‘re really caretaking Hosts. During our stay they arranged a nice little birthday party with cake for my girlfriend and they gave me good advice, when I was sick and helped me contacting a great doctor! During our 3D2N Tour we saw a lot of crazy insects, spiders, frogs and snakes. We also saw the Rhinozeros hornbill really close and Gibbons and red leaf Monkeys. If you’re interested in nature, please support them. They have great plans and projects for the future. Go there and find out! One thing, that should improve in future are the Bathrooms in the Building.

We spent three nights with 1Stop Borneo and absolutely loved it. The experience was both educational and unforgettable. The location inside Tawau Hills National Park, at the research center, made it extra special, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Our guide Yulinda was excellent – her passion for conservation was inspiring and added so much to the trip. The variety of wildlife we saw was incredible, with highlights including an overnight stay in Inikea with a night safari, and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a pangolin at night. That sighting will stay with us forever! A big thank you to Shavez and his team for their warm hospitality and dedication. We’re already looking forward to coming back in the future.

We visited Tawau Hills Park for 5 days during our month long visit to Borneo and absolutely fell in love. If you are looking for great opportunities to see and learn about wildlife in a more authentic way, away from large tours and very touristy packages, I can't recommend this experience enough. We saw Rhinocerous Hornbills close up, red leaf monkeys, including the white morph feeding nearby on the ground, gibbons swinging in the canopy in the mornings, and were able to observe many hornbills flying around the treetops in the wild of other varieties. We were able to find tarsiers at night and thanks to our wonderful guides: including Yulinda and Shavez, we were able to find so many other beautiful creatures: from green crested lizards, a bat sleeping in a leaf, lanternbugs, sleeping birds in trees and different snakes and frogs and lizards and other insects: including a dead leaf mantis and a violin beetle. On our last night we were even lucky enough to encounter a Malay Civet near the lodge and a mousedeer too. Tawau was such a special and rewarding place to explore, and it was made extra special being surrounded by so much information about Borneo wildlife and the knowledge of the ecologists, who were so generous in sharing with us so much knowledge they have gained through their years of living in Tawau. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and the meals were delicious, and it is great knowing that the money you spend on the tours (which is very reasonable and good value) goes back into the amazing conservation projects run by 1stopBorneo. We thought you had to spend lots of money going to more expensive places like Danum and Tabin for a great wildlife experience, but this visit proved this wasn't the case. Thank you so much to the team at 1stopBorneo for this experience!

3 aug 2025 My husband and I did a 3 day, 2 night tour with 1StopBorneo in June and it was without a doubt the highlight of our 4 month trip to Southeast Asia. The accomodations were clean and comfortable, the food was delicious (they were even able to accommodate a food allergy), and above all the team were incredibly knowledgeable and kind. In just 3 days, we saw an insane amount of flora and fauna during the various guided walks. Shavez, Chun, and the team could not have been more knowledgeable and welcoming. We learned so much and loved every second. If you are thinking of visiting Sabah, this is an absolute MUST!!!
