According to the Tourism Tax Act 2017 enacted by the Parliament of Malaysia recently, we wish to inform that The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) will effect the mandatory collection of Malaysia Tourism Tax (MyTTx) from all foreign tourists effective 1st September 2017.

TTx is a tax charged and levied on a foreign tourist staying at any accommodation premises in Malaysia at a fixed of RM 10.00 per room per night. Tourists will have to pay TTx to the accommodation operator upon check-out. This is also applicable to any online booking transaction.

The following tourists are exempted from the payment of the whole of TTx when they stay at any accommodation premise in Malaysia:

a tourist who is a Malaysian national; and
a tourist who is a permanent resident of Malaysia. (holds MyPR card)
