This 3D2N eco-adventure brings together three of Borneo's most distinctive wildlife experiences: an overnight stay on Selingan Turtle Island, a night at Tanini Kinabatangan Lodge, and a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Between turtle conservation, rainforest river cruises and close encounters with orangutans, it's a chance to see several sides of Sabah's ecosystems within a single short trip.
At Tanini Kinabatangan Lodge, a rustic retreat reachable only by boat, guests are surrounded by secondary rainforest and the sounds of the jungle. Sunrise and sunset river cruises bring the Kinabatangan to life, with chances to spot proboscis monkeys, hornbills, pygmy elephants and crocodiles, while a guided night walk reveals a different side of the forest after dark.
On Selingan Turtle Island, one of the few places where visitors can stay overnight, guests may witness green turtles nesting after dark and, with luck, see hatchlings make their way to the sea. The island is also home to one of the world's oldest turtle hatcheries, making it a genuinely significant site for marine conservation.
The trip also includes a stop at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where rescued orangutans come down from the canopy for their feeding session, a fitting final piece of an already wildlife-rich itinerary.
