Overview

Monggiland Waterfall Eco Tourism is a community-based adventure destination in Kampung Kelawat, Tamparuli, offering rainforest hiking, waterfall exploration and water canyoning in one natural setting. Located along the Tamparuli–Ranau Road, it is a convenient stop for travellers heading towards Kundasang and Ranau.

Visitors can choose from three hiking trails of varying difficulty or take on canyoning experiences ranging from 65 feet to the signature 121-foot Monggiland route. Led by local guides, the experience combines outdoor adventure, nature and community-based eco-tourism in Sabah.

Important Information & Terms

  • Operating hours: 6:30 AM–4:30 PM. Activities typically take 8–10 hours, depending on the selected package, weather, trail conditions and group pace.
  • Group size: Trail A and Trail B allow up to 5 participants per group; Trail C allows up to 3 participants. Larger groups may require additional guides and fees.
  • Local guide required: A local guide is compulsory for all hiking activities and is included in the package price.
  • Fees included: Applicable entrance and conservation fees are included.
  • Optional add-ons: Shoe rental, gloves, lunch packs, certificates and the Backflip Experience are available at additional cost, subject to availability and safety assessment.
  • Safety & participation: All activities are subject to weather, trail and on-site safety conditions. MLET Management may modify, postpone, cancel or restrict participation where necessary for safety.
  • Children: Guests aged 7 years and above may join selected activities when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, subject to the guide’s safety assessment.
  • Guest responsibility: Participants must follow guide instructions and disclose any relevant limitations that may affect safe participation.
  • Travel insurance: Personal travel insurance covering outdoor and adventure activities is recommended and is not included.
  • Transportation: Transfers to and from Monggiland Waterfall Eco Tourism are not included unless stated otherwise.
  • Arrival: Guests should arrive on time for registration and the safety briefing. Late arrival may affect participation.
  • Cancellation: Full refund for cancellations made before 6:00 PM one day prior to the activity date. Later cancellations and cancellations after the activity has commenced are non-refundable.
  • Tipping: Not compulsory, but appreciated for good service.
  • By booking, guests agree to comply with the operator’s safety requirements, activity guidelines and applicable terms and conditions.
