Amazing Borneo

Its truly an amazing experience of getting to see these unique monkey soo close by. The place is located in the mid of a Palm oil plantation - the very little place of mangrove swamp which is their habitat that the developer left out undeveloped for these monkeys to survive from extinction hence the road that leads to this place is terrible. Long way in to reach the ticket counter and from the ticket counter you have drive further in for about 3km to reach the platforms. There are two feeding platforms A&B with feeding time of 9.30&2.30 and 11.30&3.30 respectively. These are the times you are recommended to go as these monkey will start to visit the platforms for food. There are some video shown about 40mins before the feeding time regarding the development and idea of this first proboscis monkey sanctuary. Having to say that these monkey can only be found in parts of Borneo, its truly a must go place.

I think this might have been overlooked by many travelers. Our excellent driver/guide, Abdul, suggested this and we were really happy that he did. During the planning process, I did not see too many reviews of this site. It was on the way to Kinabatangan River cruise and deserved a short stop. We saw bats and swiftlets which were known for their nests that certain cultures consider a delicacy. It was very interesting. We saw equipments that workers used to harvest the nests high up on the ceiling of the cave. If you come here during harvest season, this is a must stop in my mind. Great accommodation right on the Kinabatangan River, delicious food and super friendly, helpful staff. Especially our guide “Captain Jack” was really great and showed us all the animals and explained them to us.

This is my second time here. Last time 2023 and now 2025. Clean! Friendly staff! Beautiful and cozy! The best staycation for two days! It would be more interesting if could provide a breakfast buffet. Overall superb hotel. Very recommended.
