Knowledge guides, delicious satay and laksa. Chalets well spaced and provided privacy.

We were paired up with a Mandarin speaking man and his very young daughter (probably around 10 years old) for our night walk on our third evening. The excursion started at 6:30 pm (30 minutes earlier than our previous night walk). The reason was the man and his daughter wanted to see the orang utans they missed yesterday. Not long after the night walk began, his daughter complained she was hungry and he proceeded to have the guide not only end the night walk immediately but also to pick up her speed walking us back to the lodge. I wished we had been informed the evening’s walk would be modified and shortened to accommodate the young child’s needs. I would have insisted to be paired with other guests who understand Danum Valley is not make-believe Disneyland.

Incredible animals of Borneo

We saw orangutans and sun bears in the rehabilitation centres. On the tours, we saw so many amazing animals in the wil including elephants, orangutans, all sorts of monkeys, snakes, crocodiles, and lots of birds. Our tour guide Azman was amazing as well!

2 hour fun introduction to KK on bikes

We did the Kota Kinabalu City Cycling Tour on our first morning there; great introduction to the place, 2 hours from 8 to 10am. Our excellent cycle guide, Junior, with back up drive, Rudi, looked after us, introduced us to the city, waterfront bike path and one hill (not the mountain!) and we saw and learnt much about the history and culture, got a good work out - all whilst taking in the lovely sights and scenery. Great people, great fun, great value and definitely recommended👍😀
