UNBOUND: Of Fabric & Bloom is an immersive art exhibition in Kota Kinabalu that invites visitors to explore sculptural fashion, botanical installations, and experiential spaces created by two Sabahan artists. Designed as a multi-realm journey rather than a traditional gallery experience, the exhibition guides visitors through four themed environments — Threshold, Mosswork, Cocoon, and Field of Voices — each offering a different perspective on creative freedom.
The exhibition blends nature-inspired materials, vibrant textile forms, and reflective storytelling to create spaces you can walk through and emotionally connect with. Visitors will encounter Floratives Studio’s botanical installations celebrating quiet, overlooked beauty, and MOKJY’s bold red Cocoon showcasing her sculptural garment and creative world. The experience culminates in a participatory installation where guests can share their own thoughts on freedom, forming a collective artwork that grows throughout the exhibition.

A Sabahan fashion designer working under the label MOKJY, Melissa Mok is known for sculptural, conceptual garments that blur the boundaries between fashion and art. Her work explores imagination, solitude, and the desire to step away from a fast, expectation-driven world, transforming clothing into expressive forms rather than trends. In UNBOUND: Of Fabric & Bloom, her creations are presented beyond the runway in a bold red Cocoon, an immersive space that offers insight into her personal creative process and her pursuit of freedom through making.
Founded by Sabahan storytelling florist Crystal Lee, Floratives Studio approaches floristry as a form of narrative and quiet devotion. Using moss, branches, and natural textures, her work highlights beauty that is often overlooked in everyday life. For UNBOUND, Floratives Studio presents a meditative botanical installation that encourages visitors to slow down, reflect, and experience stillness as a meaningful expression of creative freedom.
