Overview

The 2D1N Kiulu Jungle Survival Experience is an immersive rainforest adventure in Sabah designed to introduce participants to basic jungle survival skills in a safe and guided setting. Located in Kiulu, this overnight experience blends hands-on learning with authentic outdoor living.

Adventurers trek into the jungle, learn essential survival techniques, cook over an open fire, and spend the night in hammock camping setups surrounded by nature. The adventure ends with an exciting white water rafting session in Kiulu before returning to Kota Kinabalu.

Ideal for adventure and eco-travellers, students, youth groups, and first-time outdoor learners aged 15 and above, this experience offers a meaningful and active escape into Sabah’s rainforest.

  • Located about 51.8km from Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), the drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2.0 hours and offers a scenic journey through Sabah’s picturesque landscapes.
  • Self-Drive Option:
  • Prefer to self-drive from Kota Kinabalu? You can rent a car and enjoy a flexible, self-guided road trip to Kiulu,Tamparuli.
  • Private Charter with Driver:
  • If you’d rather relax during the journey, you can also book a private charter with driver for a smooth and comfortable ride.
  • From Kundasang:
  • Traveling from Kundasang? Kiulu Basecamp is about 70.1km away, making it a cozy and scenic drive of about 1.5 hours.

Things You Should Know

  • You must have a moderate level of fitness to undertake this tour as you are required to be outdoors the entire duration of the tour and will also need to trek up for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Please note: This is a survival-style experience and includes hammock camping only.
  • The camp consists of the most basic necessities with only your meals taken care of so you must be prepared to rough it out.
  • Be prepared to get wet while trekking as you will need to cross a river and a hanging bridge.
  • You have to carry your own personal belongings and water.
  • The jungle's temperature can drop to around 12 - 15 degrees Celcius at night so please bring along enough warm clothing.
  • Please cut your toenails before the start of this adventure to prevent the nails from hitting the front of the shoes. This is because when descending, it will cause pain and discomfort.
  • Though it is never expected, tipping is always appreciated.
