The annual Tamu Besar of Kota Belud, will be held on the last weekend of October. This Tamu Besar, the largest melting pot market in Sabah is a mere 2-hour car ride from Kota Kinabalu city, perfect as a day trip or quick weekend getaway. Pronounced as ‘tah-moo’, this marketplace is a place to sell, buy or exchange goods and food. In an open-air setting, vendors sell street foods, traditional crafts such as rattan mats, baskets from screw pine leaves, traditional machetes alongside with fishermen's and farmers' produces.
