Local NGO 1StopBorneo Wildlife has just launched their Borneo Wildlife Series, a 12-episode documentary series on Borneo’s animal kingdom, showcasing the many fascinating wildlife species that call this tropical island home. The launch was held on 27th February 2024, Tuesday, at City Cineplex in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and was attended by a diverse range of guests including representatives from government, private sector, and academia.
The screening gave guests an exclusive first look at four episodes, each one zooming in on a specific species or category – red leaf monkeys, pygmy elephants, insects, and pangolins – touching on their ecology, the threats that they face, and local conservation efforts by individuals and organisations around the state. The series was shot in various locations across Sabah including Tawau Hills National Park, Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Spring, and Danum Valley Conservation Area.
The other eight episodes focused on clouded leopards, hornbills, dolphins, frogs, and more will be launched over the course of the next few weeks across different locations, including schools. This educational series, funded by Sime Darby Bhd and supported by Sabah Parks, not only highlights the fascinating aspects of these species but also emphasises the importance of sustainability. The complete series will be released online soon on YouTube and other social media platforms. Stay tuned for updates on the remaining episodes!
